Jonah And Lot Are Examples of God’s Mercy

Jonah was a very complicated person.

Thousands of Sermons, Let alone Children’s Bible Lessons, have been given on the Book of Jonah. It is rich with Bible Lessons to be taught and Learned.

Jonah was a Vile Wicked Person:

Jonah 4:11 But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry. 2 And he prayed unto the Lord, and said, I pray thee, O Lord, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil. 3 Therefore now, O Lord, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live. 4 Then said the Lord, Doest thou well to be angry?

Jonah was Displeased with and Angry at God… Wow!!!

I have seen this attitude in “Christians” for over 40 years. There is a Lot of Hate in “Christians” in Pastor’s.

I know Pastor’s that are Like Jonah. These Wicked Pastor’s do Not Want to See Everyone Saved. One example is they Hate Homosexuals. If they have anything to do with them it is Full of Hate.

News Flash Homosexuality is Not an Unforgivable Sin.

Yes Saved people can be and many are Homosexuals. Just like there are Christians caught up in Numerous Sins: Adultery, Cheating on their Wives / their Husbands, Fornication, Being Drunks, Drug Addiction, etc…, the List of Sins is extremely Long.

There are Hate Groups that Parade about as “Christians” as “Christian Churches” that attend LGBTQIA+ events Not to Try and see anyone Saved. They go to Mock, to Attack them Not to Share the Gospel.

Wicked Vile Christians:

These Wicked People (Some of them are probably Saved Like Jonah…) Do Not Want Homosexuals to Be Saved. They are Hypocrites. They discount their own Sins… They think they are Better than the Homosexuals. I have News for You. Your own Sins are Not Better than the Sin of Homosexuality. Homosexuality is a Sin like Smoking, Drinking, Sexual Sins, Drug Addiction, any Other Addiction.

I have seen these type of “Christian” Hypocrites that Get into other People’s Faces about Sin, I have seen them Smoking, doing things that they get into other people’s faces about. I Even knew a Church going closet Homosexual who was like this.

Closeted Homosexuals in numerous Baptist Churches (Not All, a portion of them.) will attend Anti-Homosexual Rallies and be one of the Biggest voices Condemning them. The History of Congress / Politicians has shown us that Many outspoken Politicians that have made it their mission to Speak out against Homosexuals are themselves Homosexuals.

Jonah Finally Does What God Told him to Do.

Jonah 3:1 And the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the second time, saying, 2 Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee. 3 So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days’ journey. 4 And Jonah began to enter into the city a day’s journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. 5 So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. 6 For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. 7 And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water: 8 But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands. 9 Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? 10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.

Jonah 3:9,10 are used by False Teachers to Teach the False Gospel of Repent of Sin to Be Saved. The context of Jonah 3:9,10 is very important. Please read to the end. I will explain Jonah 3:9,10 below.

Hypocrites are Everywhere. Jonah was a Huge Hypocrite.

Jonah was a very Poor Excuse for an Evangelist. He was a Bitter Judgmental Hypocrite that was Happy to see Thousands of people killed by God. He was Angry that God did Not Just Kill them. He wanted to see God Kill them. Jonah was a Blood Thirsty Psychopath.

Jonah and Lot

The Bible depiction of Jonah and Lot are very similar in one aspect. They both had the opportunity to Save a City / Cities. With Lot he was tasked with Saving The Cities On The Plain. Which included Sodom and Gomorrah.

Both Lot and Jonah had the ability to Save a City / Cities from destruction. Lot wanted to Save the lives of all the people in all the Cities on the plain. But Jonah on the other hand Hated the people of Nineveh and wanted to Watch Them All Burn like Sodom and Gomorrah did.

Saved People, Evangelist, etc…, Can Be Vile Sinners.

The Scriptures show that Jonah was Vile. Jonah was and remained a man of God… Lot is Vile as well Remember he had Sex with his two daughters.  But at least he wanted to Save Lives so I put Lot way ahead of Jonah.

Proof that God Wrote the Bible is seen in the depictions of both Jonah and Lot.

The Bible shows how Vile they Both were. (Lot had Sex with Both of his Daughters.) The Bible doesn’t cover up the Sins of Bible Saints. Yes both Lot and Jonah were Saints of God. They were imperfect but God still used them.

Lot’s Task:

Lot was tasked with having to have Saved 10 souls only his own household. His household would have been much more than 10 souls. For example Abraham’s household was in the hundreds.

Genesis 18:23 And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked? 24 Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?

Abraham expected that Lot would have at least 10 members of his household who were Saved. So when Abraham was able to get God to agree to spare the Cites if 10 righteous people were found he stopped thinking that Lot certainly had 10 people Saved in his household.

There is Only One True Way to Be Saved in the Bible:

Bible Salvation is Believing the Gospel Only to be Saved. No person has / will go to Hell the Lake of Fire because of Sin. Jesus died for all Sin.

John 1:29 “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”

Hebrews 10:12 “But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;”

2nd Corinthians 5:15 “And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.”

1st Peter 3:18 “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:”

1st John 2:2 “And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”

1st John 3:5 “And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.”

Hebrews 9:13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.

A Testament is God’s contract with Mankind on how he is dealing with man in regard to Mankind’s Salvation.

God gave Israel the Law in the Old Testament.

The Testator of the Old Testament were animals like sheep.

The New Testament Testator was Jesus. Jesus death began the New Testament.

In the New Testament Salvation is defined as the Gospel:

1st Corinthians 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

A person is Saved by Believing in Jesus as the only way to Heaven. Believing that Jesus death, burial and resurrection is the only possible payment for our Sins. The only way to be Saved is putting our faith in Jesus to save us.

Were Old Testament Believers Saved by Jesus Only too?

Yes.

Jesus’ Death on the Cross Gives Eternal Salvation for All Believers, whether they lived before or after him.

In both the Old and New Testament everyone is Saved By Grace, through Faith in Jesus.

The Law was given to Show all Mankind that no one could keep the Law. The Law showed us that we were Sinners in need of a Saviour.

The death of animals were the Testator of the Old Testament to show that Sin required a Blood Sacrifice.

Believers in the Old Testament were not saved by being obedient to the law of God. The Bible clearly teaches this:

Romans 3:20Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”

We are not good enough to earn Heaven. That is true for us now, and it was also true for believers in the Old Testament.

Old Testament Believers were not Saved by animal sacrifices:

Hebrews 10:4 “For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.”

The Old Testament sacrifices pointed towards the one sacrifice that Jesus would make on the cross to bring Eternal Salvation.

Like New Testament believers, Old Testament believers were Justified by Grace through Faith Alone in Jesus.

Abraham:

Genesis 15:6 “And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness.”

Galatians 3:6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

You Must Understand That There Is Only One True Gospel.

The Bible here in Galatians 3 said that God preached the Gospel to Abraham.

Galatians 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Lot’s and Jonah’s tasks were the same.

Lot failed to Save 10 souls. Jonah was very successful, despite his own feelings, in Saving enough Souls that God decided to Spare Nineveh.

Jonah 3:9 Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? 10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.

Explaining Jonah 3:9,10

10 And God saw their works…

Their Works… God is Telling us here that Turning From Sins their Evil Way is Works.

I hear Countless People who push the Repent of Sin False Gospel Say that Repenting of Sin is Not Works. God Clearly says that it is Works. Repent of Sin is also called: To Forsake Sin and To Turn From Sin to be Saved.

The people of Nineveh were trusting in their Own Good Works to Save them just like every Lost person in history. The Evil way they Turned from was not Sin, it was Trusting in their own Good Works.

The people of Nineveh were Saved by Believing the Gospel Only.

Abraham was Lot’s brother and Abraham knew the Gospel so it is a given that Lot also knew the Gospel and Believed the Gospel just like Abraham.

Jonah God’s Evangelist, he obviously knew the Gospel. He was an Evangelist, a Soul Winner. If you understand the entire Bible you will see that the Gospel started in Genesis and is present throughout the whole Bible.

Jonah 3:5So the people of Nineveh believed God…

Nineveh was Saved by the people in Nineveh that Believed God. The only way to be Saved is to Believe the Gospel in both the Old and New Testaments.

The people of Nineveh did not just Believe that God would destroy Nineveh (They obviously knew that God had destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.) that fact was a given. Jonah’s Preaching showed them they were Trusting in their Own Good Works to Save themselves.

Jonah 3:5 So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.

Faith Without Works Is Dead = Salvation By Works?

Salvation Is By Grace Through Faith In Jesus Christ Only.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

We are Saved by the Grace of God Alone through Faith in Jesus Christ Alone.

Salvation
Salvation

Salvation Is NOT by WORKS. The Bible is Very, Very, Very Clear about this. Ephesians 2:9 Could Not be More Clear:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Do you see this??? NOT of Works. No One will be in Heaven Boasting about All of their Good Works.

Also read Romans Chapter 4 and you will clearly see that Salvation is Not by Works.

The Bible Clearly Shows Us Every Person Is Very Sinful.

Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Romans 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. 19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. 20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. 22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

Beware of False Religions, Works Based Salvation.

If you are familiar with what Baptist Works Based Churches teach (Others Denominations too. I have to call out Baptist Churches because people have the Wrong Impression on the Baptist Church. People think the Baptist Church is the Back Bone of Bible Believing, Soul Winning, Christianity. The Southern Baptist Church is praised for making up the Bible Belt in the USA. The Truth is it is hard to Find a Baptist Church that doesn’t Teach Works Salvation. They will Lie and Say, Repent of Sin is Not Works. Repent of Sin is Works. It Also is Not Found in the Bible.) you should know, if you think about it. That they constantly contradict themselves.

Be careful. Baptist Churches, other Denominations, will Lie: “This Church Believes in Salvation, by Grace through Faith in Jesus Christ Alone. Jesus is the Only Way to Heaven.”

Then in the next sentence they say: “If you have Not Truly Repented of All of your Sins then you will GO TO HELL.” “You have to have a Life Worthy of going to Heaven, Worthy of Jesus.” “If you haven’t completely Surrendered your Life to Jesus than you are Not Saved.” “Have you Given your life to Jesus? If you are Still Living your Old Life of Sin, then you haven’t Given your life to Jesus. You are Lost.”

There are dozens more catch phrases they endlessly repeat that are Unbiblical, Works Based Salvation, talking points.

They are Fruit Inspectors.

They will examine you, put you under a microscope. “What did you do for Jesus today?” “Did you tell anyone about Jesus?” “I don’t see any tracts in your pocket. Did you run out? Or don’t you pass out tracts?”

In IFB Baptist Churches especially there are many Church members who think they are the Holy Spirit of God. They ask Questions they have no right to ask. Like the Pharisees they are nothing but Hypocrites.

They are Fruit Inspectors because they teach a Works based Salvation. I don’t care how many correct Bible verses they quote. Because when it comes down to Salvation. They will tell you that you have to Repent of Sin to be Saved.

They might say, Turn From Sin, Forsake Sin, be willing to Turn from Sin… They have many False Works based Salvation things they will tell people when they are telling a person how to be Saved.

If the Bible Doesn’t Say it Don’t Believe it.

“OF SIN” they always Add to Repent. There is No place in the Bible that says to Repent of Sin. Repent of Sin is Not in the Bible.

Every verse in the Bible that says to Repent these Works based Churches will add “OF SIN” to them. I immediately say: “You added, OF SIN, to that verse.”

They will say many different things to defend themselves. “OK I get it. You just don’t understand that the definition of Repent is to Repent of Sin.” What a completely Ridiculous thing to say. The word you are defining is NEVER in the definition of that word.

When a Person, a Church, uses Scriptures to defend Repent of Sin, or any other Works based Salvation, they always Twist the Scriptures. They take verses out of context and say this is proof.

The Bible Does Not Teach We are Saved by Works.

2nd Peter 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

Jeremiah 23:36 And the burden of the Lord shall ye mention no more: for every man’s word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the Lord of hosts our God.

If your Faith rests on anything other than the Word of God your Faith is False.

Your Faith is No Better than any other Religion Not based on the Bible.

Yes it is a Big Deal to Add, to Subtract Words from the Bible. People / Churches that do this are Not Christian. They are Cults pushing their own man made Doctrines.

The Bible Warns Us Not To Add Words To The Bible Or To Subtract Words From The Bible.

Deuteronomy 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.

Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. 6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

These False Churches and False Teachers, whoever they are a Liars. That is what the Bible says.

I call them Liars. They get immediately angry. They will say I am not acting like a Christian.

There Go To Reply: “Christians, Don’t call each other Liars. How can you call yourself a Christian?”

They are always on the Attack. So when you use strong Bible Replies to them, they say you are Not a Christian. You are the False Teacher… They will always get away from the conversation at hand because they cannot defend their False Doctrines. They will always shift the Conversation to You.

They try to get you to Call them a Christian. “Christians can have different opinions. Let’s Not Argue about Doctrine.” “Christians are Not supposed to Argue with each other.”

My Reply: “You are Not a Christian. You are Liar. You are a False Teacher.”

Many Works Based Salvation False Teachers run to James Chapter 2. They Love to Quote:

James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

James 2:26 is NOT a Salvation verse.

The Book of James Does Not Teach Salvation.

When anyone is using single verses to try to prove what they are teaching that is always a Red Flag. A Christian Bible Teacher, Pastor will Not use Single verses to teach or defend a Doctrine.

When you read the Bible you must understand that although All Scripture was written for our Benefit. Every Bible verse doesn’t apply Doctrinally to Christians. You cannot take random verses and say that they All teach Bible Doctrine to Christians. A lot of the Bible was / is Bible Doctrine Only to the Jew, to the Nation of Israel.

2nd Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

You need to understand first who is being spoken to when you read the Bible.

The Book of James was written to Saved people, to Christians. Proof:

James 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

James 2:1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.

The word Brethren means Christians, Fellow Believers. The Fact that James Chapter 1 starts out “My Brethren” is 100% Proof James is talking to Christians. He is Not Preaching to the Lost. He is Not Instructing Christians on Evangelism, how to win the Lost.

James Chapter 2 is speaking to Christians on how they should live, about their behavior towards each other.

It teaches a person is Justified in the “SIGHT OF MAN” by the Works that they do. Do you understand. James is NOT Teaching that we can be Saved, Justified by our Works by God.

Men and Women will Look at other people and in their eyes they will Judge them by their Works. People who have a Great amount of Good Works will be seen as Good People, Justified people. This is NOT God’s View.

Eternal Salvation is Not Mentioned anywhere in James Chapter 2.

“Works” are Necessary Not For Physical Salvation. Works are Necessary for a Christian’s spiritual Life. A Christian should do Good Works because they are Saved. Not to Get Saved is the Message of James Chapter 2.

In fact, the “saving”, mentioned in James 2 is speaking of physical saving, not the spiritual Salvation of the Soul. Again Eternal Salvation, Saving from Hell is Not mentioned.

Explaining James Chapter 2.

Verses 1-13: Is about how we should treat others. We should treat everyone equally, the same. We should Not have more Respect for people based on their Wealth. We should Not look down on anyone. We should help and give to the poor Not look down on them.

James 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? Can faith save him?

The Saving in this Verse is Not talking about Saving a Person from Hell. It is clearly (You have to read the rest of the Chapter to understand the context.) talking about Saving them from Poverty.

You can have Great Faith in Jesus and in the Bible. But just having Faith will not Feed, Cloth, provide for you. Provide what you, or anyone else, needs to survive, to live life. You have to do physical Work to have the money you need to survive to live life. To provide for others, to give to the poor.

15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

The message here is to Provide for the Poor. Do Not have them depart without providing for them. Kind words do Not Feed and clothe them. There is NO PROFIT spiritually or in any other way for missing the opportunity to provide for the poor. The Bible teaches God will Bless you in this life and in Eternity for providing for the Poor, the Needy.

17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

These Verses are Still talking about there is NO PROFIT in Not providing for the poor. A Christian who has Faith in God will demonstrate their Faith by providing for the poor.

It takes Faith to Spend money. You are Saying God will provide for me if I don’t have savings. A Faithless person will accumulate wealth, save up for a rainy day. A person with Great Faith will Not live their life with a large bank account. They will spend their savings to help the poor. Giving to the Poor is Good Works that you will be rewarded for.

19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

More of the same. The Bible is very repetitious to drive home the point. James 2 is talking to Fake Proud Christians. You know the kind that are Pharisees. They are Hypocrites. They tell you how to live but they don’t do what the preach. They claim to have Great Faith but yet they do not provide for the Poor. They have large savings because they are afraid, lack the Faith Not to. They don’t show their Faith by doing Good Works.

21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

Abraham was justified by man Not by God in this passage. James 2 is talking about how man justifies other people.

Abraham was seen by people who went with him. People discovered what Abraham did when he took Isaac up to the altar. They saw Abraham and Isaac come back. They saw his Faith. Man could see his Faith by Him taking His promised seed, which God had given him, up to the altar without bringing an animal sacrifice with him.

Romans 4:1 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? 2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. 3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. 4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

Romans 4 clearly says Abraham was NOT JUSTIFIED BY WORKS.

25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Rahab was justified by Man, by Joshua. He was preparing to destroy Jericho. He was told to kill every person inside the city. When Joshua learned of Rahab’s Faith which she showed by saving the lives of the spies, she was spared. Everyone in her home was spared. She was physically saved and justified by her works in front of the army of Israel.

Please do not Blindly Follow anyone. Study the Bible for yourself.
