The Bible 101. Is The Bible God’s Word? How To Read And Study The Bible.

Why I Believe The Bible is 100% God’s Word

John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

God’s Word is True. Prophecy Proves this. History Proves Bible Prophecy.

When I read the Bible I feel the Holy Spirit of God in my mind talking to me. When I Study God’s Word The Holy Spirit Opens up the Truth of the Bible to Me.

When God Speaks to me he often puts a Scripture in my Mind. I go to that Scripture read it and more and more Scriptures are given to me to read as I read. The Holy Spirit of God explains the Scriptures to me.

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

The Bible Obviously has One Author the Holy Spirit of God

The Bible has 66 Books. These books fit seamlessly together, referring to each other hundreds of times. In the New Testament Old Testament Prophecies are seen Fulfilled.

The Scriptures were written by 40+ men through the Holy Spirit of God.

God wrote the Bible.

If you read the Bible you will see: The Word of God, My Word(s), Thy Word (God’s Word.), etc…, repeated over and over and over again, in the Bible.

Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

1st Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: 25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

Isaiah 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Psalms 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. 12 Blessed art thou, O Lord: teach me thy statutes. 13 With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth. 14 I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches. 15 I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways. 16 I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word. 17 Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word. 18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.

Psalms 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. 106 I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments. 107 I am afflicted very much: quicken me, O Lord, according unto thy word. 108 Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O Lord, and teach me thy judgments. 109 My soul is continually in my hand: yet do I not forget thy law. 110 The wicked have laid a snare for me: yet I erred not from thy precepts. 111 Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart. 112 I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes alway, even unto the end. 113 I hate vain thoughts: but thy law do I love. 114 Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word. 115 Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God. 116 Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope. 117 Hold thou me up, and I shall be safe: and I will have respect unto thy statutes continually. 118 Thou hast trodden down all them that err from thy statutes: for their deceit is falsehood. 119 Thou puttest away all the wicked of the earth like dross: therefore I love thy testimonies. 120 My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments. 121 I have done judgment and justice: leave me not to mine oppressors. 122 Be surety for thy servant for good: let not the proud oppress me. 123 Mine eyes fail for thy salvation, and for the word of thy righteousness. 124 Deal with thy servant according unto thy mercy, and teach me thy statutes. 125 I am thy servant; give me understanding, that I may know thy testimonies. 126 It is time for thee, Lord, to work: for they have made void thy law. 127 Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold. 128 Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way.

The Holy Spirit Wrote Through Common Men like Gad, Luke and Mark. Through Prophets, Kings, Apostles, etc…

Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: 2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

Revelation 1:1,2 Is a Perfect Example of how God Wrote the Bible. Here John is Given a Special Revelation by Jesus Christ. (Paul was also taught by Jesus Christ After his Resurrection. Paul was Given Special Revelations from Jesus.) Every Word John wrote in the Books of John and Revelation were Given to him by God to Write. This is how every Book of the Bible Was Written.

Revelation 3:1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write…, 7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write…, 14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write…,

2nd Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

2nd Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

2nd Peter 1:21 the entire passage

2nd Peter 1:12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. 13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; 14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. 15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance. 16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. 19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

God Wrote every Word of the Bible. The Bible is Infallible. It is the Perfect, Inerrant Word of God.

Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. 6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

Psalms 12:6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

Psalms 19:7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. 8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. 9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. 11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.

James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

2nd Samuel 22:31 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.

The Bible Foretells Specific Events in Great Detail. Many years before they happen. Bible Prophets have successfully made Prophecies hundreds of years before they were Fulfilled.

Over 2,500 Prophecies are written in the Bible. Around 2,000 Prophecies have been Fulfilled according to the majority of people who took the time to Study and research this. The Key Finding is the Bible is Error Free. Of the 2,500 Prophecies found in the Bible there is No Errors in Prophecies Foretold. The Bible is Error Free.

Fulfilled Prophecies

Before 500 BC, the Prophet Daniel Prophesied that Israel’s long-awaited King, The Messiah would begin his public ministry 483 years after a Decree to Restore and Rebuild Jerusalem is made.

Daniel 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

DanielProphesied that the Messiah would be “cut off,” Killed. This event would happen before Jerusalem and the Temple would be Destroyed for a 2nd time. Written History and Archaeology Prove that these Prophecies were Exactly Fulfilled.

The Life, Death by Crucifixion, Burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ were well written about Historically, not just written about in the Bible. This is further Proof of the Bible Prophecies. The decree regarding the restoration of Jerusalem was issued by Persia’s King Artaxerxes to the Hebrew priest Ezra in 458 BC, 483.

Over 500 Years later the ministry of Jesus Christ began in Galilee. The Start of Jesus’ Public Ministry was in 26 AD. Jesus’ crucifixion happened in 30 AD. Forty years later, in 70 AD Titus Destroyed Jerusalem and the 2nd Temple.

OK How to Study the Bible

Pick a Subject, let’s Say Salvation. Look what the Bible says about Salvation. Since you have already read the Bible Several times you should immediately know how the Ethiopian Eunuch was Saved.

Acts 8:26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. 27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship, 28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet. 29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. 30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? 31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. 32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: 33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. 34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? 35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. 36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. 39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

This passage about the Ethiopian Eunuch referred to Isaiah Chapter 53 so you read that entire Chapter. It is about Salvation.

You should know:

Acts 16:27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. 28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. 29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, 30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

Above are just a few examples of Salvation Bible Scriptures, what a proper Bible Study on Salvation will entail.

When you want to Study the Bible for yourself use the Bible.

The Bible explains itself.

If you want to understand what a Word used in the Bible means, do Not use a Dictionary, even a Bible Dictionary is often Not Good to use.

Get a Bible Concordance. Look up the Word in a Bible Concordance and see how it is used over and over again in the Bible. Soon the meaning will become clear. This type of learning I was taught in Elementary School.

Always use the Bible to define Words, to Explain itself.

Isaiah 28:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

A Precept can be a Word. It can be a term like Covenant. So to learn the meaning if you don’t immediately understand the meaning you find this Precept (Word, Term, etc…) throughout the Bible and learn its meaning by seeing what the Bible says about it.

Line upon line means When you want to Understand a Bible Verse you Need to read the Whole Chapter to understand the Context. “Line upon line, line upon line..” This is what it means. Read more than just single verses.

You cannot take one single verse and Teach a Bible Truth with it by itself. That is what False Teachers, Cults do.

The context of Isaiah 28:10

Isaiah 28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. 10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: 11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. 12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. 13 But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
